VDL Groep has acquired Limoco. This Flemish family business from Opglabbeek specializes in turnkey systems for industrial ventilation and extraction. With Limoco in its ranks, VDL Groep further strengthens its position in industrial air technology, a sector in which the industrial family business with operating company VDL Industrial Products has been active for decades.
Limoco was founded in 1975 as Limburgse Montage Compagnie. The company, based in Opglabbeek (municipality of Oudsbergen in the Flemish province of Limburg), specializes in customer-specific solutions and turnkey projects in air technology in general and specifically in industrial and residential ventilation and dust extraction. Limoco is a profitable company, has achieved a stable annual turnover of approximately 10 million euros in recent years, and has 50 employees.
In its turnkey projects, in which Limoco takes care of the entire process from design to delivery for a customer, the Flemish project organization incorporates, among other things, the advanced products of VDL Industrial Products in air technology, bulk handling, and fire and explosion protection. Limoco and VDL Industrial Products have been working together for 20 years, supplying each other with products, knowledge, and expertise. Limoco takes care of the engineering, manufacturing, and assembly of the air technology installation for, in, or on an industrial building or factory, while VDL Industrial Products supplies the components (e.g., piping, locks, and valves) for this. Important markets to which they supply are food, high-tech, and mobility. With Limoco in its ranks, VDL is able to offer customers more customized solutions and a broader package (including work preparation, design, installation, and maintenance & service).
‘A big step forward in our development’
The Stinkens family has been at the helm of Limoco since 2004. Tim Stinkens took over the company from his father Jan in 2019. Tim Stinkens: "Thanks to our many years of intensive collaboration with VDL, the step to becoming part of the VDL Group feels small to us, but it is a big step forward in our development. The scope of our projects is constantly increasing because our customers increasingly want a single supplier who takes care of everything, from design to delivery. This often presents a major challenge for us alone. The combination with VDL is also a good match for this. We see VDL as a stable partner that can help us achieve future growth, both at home and abroad."
‘Benefits for both parties’
Willem van der Leegte, President and CEO of VDL Groep: “Limoco and our operating company VDL Industrial Products have a long-standing relationship as mutual customer and supplier. This acquisition offers benefits for both parties. By sharing knowledge, jointly exploiting market opportunities, and improving operational efficiency in the field of logistics processes and economies of scale through joint purchasing, we can realize our growth ambitions and further strengthen our position in the industrial air technology market.”
